Over 85% sold at special tea auction

At the Next auction carried out by Coonoor Tea Trade Affiliation (CTTA) to mark the Intercontinental Tea Working day (ITD) as component of celebrations with the Tea Board, some price data were established up.

“All teas sold in this auction were produced with the inexperienced leaf harvested on ITD (Could 21). In all, four,043 kg was provided of which, three,468 kg was sold. This intended that about eighty five.78 for each cent of the present was sold. The average price was ₹222.04 a kg,” CTTA Chairman L Vairavan, explained to BusinessLine.

“The Silver Needles excel (₹ 16,400 a kg) and Silver Needles exclusive (₹15,300 a kg) of Avataa Beverages purchased by Shree Ganesh Tea Trading Co., have come to be all-time significant costs for any tea from any factory in any auction any where in South India so far,” Ravichandran Broos, Normal Manager, Paramount Tea Internet marketing (SI) P Ltd., who auctioned the teas, explained.

Amongst orthodox teas, Havukal tea, auctioned by J Thomas and Co Pvt Ltd., topped when Siewert and Dholakia Abroad Pvt Ltd., purchased it for ₹1,510 a kg. Kodanad Speciality Tea got ₹531.

Darmona Estate’s Pink Dust, auctioned by Paramount Tea Internet marketing (SI) P Ltd., topped the CTC teas on present when Nisha Enterprises purchased it for ₹415 a kg. “This is a record price for us due to the fact it is the highest price fetched for any quality of our teas considering the fact that producing began in our factory 37 decades back,” Darmona’s Taking care of Husband or wife Dinesh Raju explained.

Homedale Estate’s Broken Pekoe, auctioned by Worldwide Tea Brokers, topped the CTC Leaf teas on present when Shree Ganesh Tea Trading Co., purchased it for ₹411 a kg. “Since producing began in our factory seventy two decades back, this is the highest price fetched for any quality of our teas,” Homedale’s Taking care of Husband or wife Raman Menon explained.
