Over 81 per cent wheat area harvested: Government

The government on Sunday claimed above eighty one per cent of wheat sown place has been harvested so significantly, when harvest of pulses and oilseeds has been concluded amidst the COVID-19 pandemic condition.

Farmers are harvesting rabi (winter) crops sown in the 2020-21 crop 12 months (July-June). Wheat is the primary rabi crop.

Releasing the hottest facts, the Agriculture Ministry claimed: “As a consequence of the proactive ways taken, harvesting of rabi crops is on routine and timely procurement is also becoming ensured for the profit of the farmers.” Amidst the recent pandemic condition, farmers and agriculture labourers are perspiring and toiling versus all adversities to make absolutely sure that foodstuff reaches our households, it claimed.

“Their silent attempts, coupled with timely intervention by the Central and Condition Governments, have ensured that there is negligible or no disruption to harvesting things to do,” it added.

In situation of wheat, the ministry claimed about eighty one.55 per cent of the complete sown place of 315.eighty lakh hectare has been harvested in the place.

About ninety nine per cent wheat harvesting concluded in Rajasthan, ninety six per cent in Madhya Pradesh, eighty per cent in Uttar Pradesh, sixty five per cent in Haryana and sixty per cent in Punjab, it claimed.

“Harvesting is at its peak in Haryana, Punjab and UP and is most likely to be concluded by the close of April 2021,” it added.

In situation of pulses which have been sown in 158.ten lakh hectare, harvesting has been concluded for gram, lentil, urad, moong and discipline peas.

For sugarcane, out of the complete sown place of forty eight.fifty two lakh hectare, harvesting has been concluded in Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and Telangana.

Up to ninety eight per cent harvesting has been concluded in Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.

While in Uttar Pradesh, eighty four per cent has been concluded and this will continue on until mid-May possibly 2021.

In situation of rice sown in forty five.32 lakh hectare in the rabi time, harvesting has been concluded in 18.seventy three lakh hectare so significantly. Rabi rice harvesting is practically finish in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
