Farmers urged to test seeds before sowing

The Chairman and Running Director of Tamil Nadu Foodgrains (CPS) Promoting Yard S Rethinavelu has cautioned people versus accepting unsolicited seed packets from abroad, in addition to insisting upon them to have this sort of seeds examined at laboratories for their efficacy just before sowing.

Sensitising farmers about “seed terrorism”, Rethinavelu reported the Global Seed Tests Company (ISTA) has already issued a warning about the penalties of sowing unsolicited seeds and the resultant impression on foods production, the distribute of crop conditions and related health and fitness and environmental challenges.

Using a cue from this sort of warnings, the Tamilnadu Foodgrains (CPS) Promoting Yard has built it obligatory for farmers to get the seeds examined in a laboratory just before working with it for cultivation.
