411 lakh tonnes of wheat procured till date, says Govt

India has procured over 411 lakh tonnes (lt) of wheat, virtually five.forty four per cent more than past year’s 390 lt and has now paid close to ₹76,056 crore straight into farmers’ accounts, reported Department of Food and Public Distribution Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey on Thursday.

Though farmers in Punjab obtained near to ₹26,104 crore, their counterparts in Haryana received close to 16,706 crore of the total price of ₹81,196 crore well worth wheat procured so much. Procurement functions are nevertheless likely on in quite a few States including Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, he reported.

Though procurement in Punjab and Madhya contributed 132.27 lt and 128.08 lt respectively, Haryana’s share in wheat procurement was eighty four.ninety three lt till Wednesday.
